The Totem working
A pocket ESP32 device (M5Stack StickS3). Hold the button to mint a bead wearing your current mask; press together with a friend for a mutual encounter, notarised on both devices. No clock, no network, weeks of battery.
AR Gallery prototype
Point a phone at a painting; it resolves the work (Wikidata, accession numbers) and mints an annotation — a bookmark on that exact piece.
Scrobble worker working
Deliberate listening, recorded: Sonos plays scrobble to Last.fm; the worker clusters them into sessions and proposes one listen bead per session. Machine-minted beads stay proposals until you keep them.

The desk where the field notebook gets dated, named and filed. Pulls the totem over USB, resolves times, manages the mask wardrobe, and pushes kept beads to your spine.
The Day's String working
A timeline of each day: annotate beads, attach photos, link event pages, and group beads into named strands — the publishable story unit. Machine beads sit on their own dotted rail.

A small self-hosted record store — beads on a thread, in the lineage of the quipu. Validates every record against the lexicons, deduplicates, keeps a change feed, serves the timeline, holds your publishing identities. Your data, your disk, one container.
Strand embed working
A dependency-free web component that renders published strands on any static site. Feed it a baked export today, a live ATProto repo tomorrow — same markup either way.
ATProto publishing planned
Personal data server + promoter: selected strands become signed public records under your own identity, discoverable across the open network.
